The Clinic Medical Director (CMD) will oversee clinical operations, provide leadership to the clinician team, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position requires a balance of administrative duties for the clinic (10%) and clinical responsibilities for their own panel of patients (90%) with a focus on optimizing workflows, fostering a culture of excellence, and driving strategic initiatives for the clinic.
Responsible for the quality and efficiency of care delivered in their assigned medical clinic including patient, staff and provider satisfaction ratings, resource utilization, schedule and template standardization and safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide clinical leadership and management of clinicians in a primary care practice.
Provide direct patient primary care as a practicing clinician.
Promote a culture of teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care.
As part of the clinical leadership team, participate in development, implementation, and oversight of clinic policies, protocols, and standards of care per UC San Diego Health ambulatory care policies.
Collaborate with practice manager to optimize clinic operations, improve patient outcomes, and achieve organizational goals.
Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between the clinician team and executive leadership.
Provide leadership in resolution of conflicts in matters of behavior, policy and resource availability
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality improvement principles, and clinical best practices.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
Basic understanding of human resources skills including critical conversations, teambuilding, mediation and performance management.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR), specifically Epic Systems, and data-driven decision-making.
M.D. or D.O. degree.
Current California Medical License, or ability, commitment to obtain CA license prior to start date.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a Primary Care setting, with at least 1 yearin a clinical leadership role.
