DESCRIPTION

Academic Affairs is the largest of the vice chancellor areas at UC San Diego. Led by the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC), it is comprised of seven academic divisions and schools, seven undergraduate colleges, the University Libraries and University Extension. The vice chancellor area also includes academic support units, as well as the units under the purview of the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Vice Chancellor Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Academic Affairs annually manages expenditures in excess of $1.5B, 4.0M ASF of space and employs over 13,500 academic, staff and research employees. The Office of the EVC is responsible for policy and procedure communication and implementation, resource administration, training and guidance, and program development for administrators, faculty, and staff within the EVC areas. Within Academic Affairs, the Office for Educational Innovation (EI) is here to help our Campus research, develop, and ultimately implement innovative curriculum and educational programs, whether that takes the form of new courses, new teaching modalities, finding ways to reach new audiences, or whole new program types altogether. EI works with individual faculty, departments, or entire divisions. EI provides trainings, workshops and opportunities to share and shape ideas at an early stage. EI can provide competitive analyses, market research, survey constituents, identify and bring together both internal and external partners, provide project management, budget analysis, and help with identifying funding and support options.

Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Change Management Lead establishes and oversees the execution of organizational change management (OCM) strategies and plans for enterprise-level projects and organizational changes in alignment with vision and goals established by university senior leadership and project governance. Partners with EI's Director of Program Management & Change Leadership and technical project managers to lead large-scale projects with organization-wide impact and manage projects' timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables with a specific eye to the people involved and impacted. Provides guidance to and works collaboratively with other OCM leads, such as Training Lead, to develop focused plans in support of the overall OCM efforts, to integrate them into ongoing OCM work, and to oversee their successful execution. Supervises and manages a team of junior OCM staff to achieve OCM goals and execute OCM plans. Seeks out and partners with leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) at all levels and across all functions to achieve project objectives. Proactively engages with and coaches sponsors, project leadership and governance, people-leaders, SMEs, all those impacted by the projects, and the wider university community in support of change engagement, adoption, and alignment.
