Description
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science (HWSPH) is dedicated to creating and promoting public health innovations to advance equity, justice, and wellbeing for all and has more than 80 primary salaried faculty, 20 secondary faculty, 250 personnel, 225 postgraduate students, and over 650 undergraduate majors. The School includes activities in the public health disciplines of biostatistics and bioinformatics, epidemiology, global health, health policy, health behavior, health equity, public mental health, environmental and climate health, and preventive medicine.
The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on wireless and population health systems, health promotion and equity, women's health, and tobacco control, and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, Design Lab, Qualcomm Institute, ACTRI, HDSI, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School houses five recharge cores providing services to UC San Diego and external customers. Research in the School includes ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts. The School has and administers two PhD programs (public health and biostatistics), a Master of Public Health professional degree program, a MS in Biostatistics, the only Health Sciences undergraduate program (BSPH), a Master of Applied Science in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations run in conjunction with UC San Diego Extension, and a Preventive Medicine Residency program.
Under supervision, the Clinical Research Coordinator Assistant will assist with study start-up, recruitment, data collection, compliance, and administrative support for multiple Phase I-III clinical trials. The CRCA will ensure protocol adherence, maintain data integrity, and facilitate communication among research teams, participants, and external partners. Fluency in Arabic is required to support community outreach and participant engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
Annual Full Pay Range: $66,753 - $107,407 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $31.97 - $51.44

Minimum Qualifications
- Theoretical knowledge and/or Bachelor's Degree in a social science, biological science, or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience in clinical trials research, including protocol start-up, IRB processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of investigational protocols, including data management, protocol design, and implementation.
- Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical setting (e.g., CRO, academic institution, or research hospital).
- Ability to screen patients for eligibility, assist with treatment plans, collect specimens, and support physicians.
- Experience completing case report forms (CRFs) both in hard copy and online.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and resourcefulness in addressing research challenges.
- Proficiency in medical and scientific terminology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and internet research.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and verbal).
- Ability to recruit and retain refugee participants in research studies.
- Basic knowledge of hypertension, chronic medical conditions, and disease management.
- Clinical Research Coordinator Certification or a Master's degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of cost accounting, medical billing, and collections guidelines as applied to both University and Medical Center functions.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
