This is a 10% - 40% Limited appointment that may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department.

DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, assist in the management of the Music Department facilities producing 250 events annually. Assist Events Managers with large events in the Mandeville Auditorium or the Conrad Prebys Music Center (CPMC) with work calls, set-up, and strike. Perform full duties as Events Manager for various instructional events including set-up, operation, and strike of productions. Assist with equipment and facility maintenance. Responsible for audience and crew safety related to personal injury prevention and adherence to fire regulations. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Seeking skilled theatrical stagehands and light and sound board operators for Department of Music events and concerts.

Must work a varying schedule. Programming in the facility necessitates a different work schedule each week including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of event planning and production and public relations. Professional knowledge of systems and equipment used to stage public events including lighting, audio, and projection systems.

Solid understanding of electricity, electronics, optics, mechanics, and other aspects of theatrical equipment to successfully repair and troubleshoot minor problems.

Strong knowledge of theatrical safety and security requirements to ensure audience and staff safety in the building.

Strong working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and / or volunteer scheduling.

Effective interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly formulate ideas when talking to event presenters, stage crew, and members of the public. Strong ability to provide close supervision to stage crew working in various theatrical disciplines.

Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues / problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher-level staff and / or management.

Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists. Flexibility in working with various individuals (stage hands, guest artists, co-workers faculty, students et al.)

Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support. Strong ability to direct technical aspects of an event in a timely manner as described by students, faculty, or staff, often with competing deadlines under pressure of public performance.

Ability to serve the instructional and production missions of the Department of Music by clearly and patiently providing support, instruction, and encouragement for the use of professional audio equipment at professional production standards. This implies an ability to adjust to the widely diverse skill, interest, and experience levels found in a freshman through PhD learning environment.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $28.07 - $48.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
