Position Title : School Based Clinical Supervisor
Department : Behavioral Health Services
Reports to : Program Director / Clinical Director
Position Objective and Summary :
The Clinical Supervisor for School-Based Counselors provides leadership and clinical oversight to a team of school-based counselors. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality mental health services to students while providing support, guidance, and clinical supervision to the counseling staff. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for staff development, performance management, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards. Independent licensure is required for this role.
Requirements
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Supervision and Oversight : Provide clinical supervision to school-based counselors, ensuring the use of best practices in mental health services and compliance with all professional and ethical standards.
- Staff Development and Training : Lead the professional development of counselors through individual supervision, group consultation, and ongoing training. Foster staff growth in clinical skills, case management, and service delivery.
- Clinical Case Review : Regularly review clinical documentation and treatment plans, providing feedback to ensure that counselors are effectively addressing students' needs. Assist counselors in managing complex cases and ensuring IM-CAT / IM-CANs certification requirements are met.
- Crisis Management and Support : Offer guidance and support to counselors during crisis interventions, assisting in the development of action plans and referral processes for emergency situations.
- Family and Community Collaboration : Ensure counselors are engaging with families and community services during school breaks. Supervise outreach efforts for individual and family counseling sessions, including support for counselors providing services outside the school setting.
- Program Development : Work collaboratively with school administrators, families, and community partners to strengthen mental health services within the school-based program. Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Compliance and Documentation : Oversee the maintenance of accurate and timely clinical documentation by counselors, ensuring adherence to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards, including confidentiality and HIPAA.
- Performance Management : Conduct performance evaluations for school-based counselors, addressing areas of strength and opportunities for growth. Manage staff performance issues as needed, in accordance with organizational policies.
- Licensure and Certification Maintenance : Ensure that all school-based counselors maintain current licensure and IM-CAT / IM-CANs certification, supporting staff in meeting continuing education requirements.
- Other Duties as Assigned : Participate in additional projects, tasks, and initiatives that support the department and organization's overall mission, as directed by senior leadership.
