Job Description
The UCB team is looking for a motivated summer intern to join our Biometrics and Quantitative Sciences Team. The intern will be creating a user-friendly interface either in RShiny, Python, or VSCODE for completing the conversion from ADaM and SDTM Define.xml to a Define.pdf with working links for uploading to Source Submissions and regulatory needed for all submissions and requests. The app will serve as an innovative solution requirement for the required define in Study Reports and Submissions. It will increase efficiencies and allow BQS to effectively complete reports with quality and harmonization instead of the present manual process. By having a robust GUI, it will take away any technical guess work from programmers not familiar with other coding methods such as Python and / or R. Present tools rely on more expensive tools and dated technology such as Java which is no longer supported by Source Submissions.
The intern program will run for 11 weeks from May 19 - August 1, 2023 . The intern will be provided a UCB laptop and software in the office on the first day and deliver a demonstration of his / her R Shiny application on the last day. The intern is expected to work 40 hours per week during normal office hours, with at least two days a week with his / her supervisor in the Morrisville, NC office. The intern will be working closely with an expert team who will be sharing their wide range of skills and pharmaceutical experience.
UCB Career Path
This summer project is aligned with regulatory agency guidance on delivery requirements of clinical analyses. The intern will have the opportunity to work with real clinical data output and learn the necessary steps on how to prepare output for submission. The intern will gain an appreciation for innovation beyond Pharma’s traditional statistical tests and data displays. The education and skills through the internship will prepare him / her upon graduation for a position in the Biometrics and Quantitative Sciences (BQS) of Programming Visualization and Reporting Group.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
- Programming experience with R and / or Python
- Undergraduate coursework in statistics or related field
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to work as a team member and attend team meetings
