The Industrial Operations and Maintenance Business Manager will serve as UCC’s lead for the business sales and operations aspects of its growing Operations and Maintenance business. This person will be the focal point for growing UCC’s O&M business from all aspects, Sales Development, Marketing, Execution, Process Management, and Business Strategy. While having an entrepreneurial mindset, intimately leads direct reports and is the point person for supporting functions including Sales, Project Management, Finance and Field Operations teams to understand market equipment needs for primarily water / wastewater, but also air and solids strategic offering pillars of the business. Current offerings include Outage / Maintenance Wash, and CCR Pond Remediation wastewater treatment and dewatering, temporary “bridge” systems, and long-term total managed care. This division also supports the Design / Build / Own / Operate / Maintain (DBOOM) corporate offering.
Leads strategic discussions around establishing and executing business plans and strategy for the O&M Business. Operates as the Sales Strategic Program Manager communicating strategy to the organization by ensuring Outside Sales Representatives, Sales Managers and Sales Engineers are aligned in the O&M strategic offering. Coordinates with the Mobile Solutions Program Director on opportunities involving UCC mobile assets. Works with Finance to ensure additional headcount requests are aligned with the financial business plan. Develops and maintains an operator’s training program for internal and outsourced or capital system handover purposes. Has experience in developing strategy for, building, leading, and growing a solution driven, value-add, and safe field operations division.
Phase 1 (Days 0-90) – Onboarding with UCC Environmental offerings, stakeholders, and processes.
Phase 2 (Days 90-on) – Advising on potential improvements to position UCC Environmental as a “best-in-class” operations and maintenance company and taking ownership of the business plan.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define the O&M vision for revenue and market share growth. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to position the offering and forecast revenue. Collaborate with Project Management / Contract Engineering, Mobile Solutions Business Manager, and Supplier Partners to develop a cost-competitive O&M Execution Model.
- Specific tactics include Analyze pricing structure, Determine Preferred Supplier or organic approach, Train current staff in O&M corporate processes and operations, evaluate need for additional resources, Train UCC Environmental Field Sales Representatives, Enhance and update marketing communications, Compile future Business Plans.
- Report to upper management status, successes, challenges, and metrics in a concise and consistent format.
- Collaborate effectively by facilitating communication and relationships between Sales, Field Engineering, Mobile Solutions, and other UCC teams to understand forecasted personnel needs. Schedule and commit personnel for deployment. Engage in site walk-downs and equipment mobilizations and demobilizations to understand needs and ensure Customer expectations are met.
- Manage UCC’s O&M personnel and Supplier Partners (if required) to ensure optimal technical and safe operations. Hire, train, and continuously develop resources as needed. Monitor operations teams to ensure success, mitigate system downtime, and create, measure, and reach critical site specific KPIs.
- Establish and continually improve O&M field processes with a focus on a zero-system downtime target, high safety integrity offering, and high resource utilization to ensure solid financial performance of the O&M Business. Develop and Track metrics critical to the O&M business success.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business/ Supply Chain or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred
- Experience (5 Years) as a Manager in Industrial Operations and Maintenance Business (Water/Wastewater Industry Preferred)
- Experience in Continuous Improvement/Lean or Process Development

Essential Physical Abilities:
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer, or in a manufacturing environment, for 80% of the day
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Ability to perform sustained physical effort handling, moving loading and unloading components in/on/off pallets containers, crates etc.
- Ability to work in awkward and strained work positions that require physical agility.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
Base Pay Range: $140,000 to $165,000 annual pay based on skills and experience
