What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Sports Turf and Grounds position at UCF Athletics?
UCF Athletics at the University of Central Florida, an NCAA Division I institution and Big XII member (effective July 1, 2023), is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director, Sports Turf and Grounds.
Under the direction of the Director of Sports Turf and Grounds, the selected candidate will manage the daily activities for the Dixon Athletics Village, including UCF Athletic fields and adjacent facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: development and execution of a maintenance program for Athletics game and practice fields; managing of field preparation and painting; supervision of grounds staff; inspection of work sites and equipment to ensure compliance with University and Athletics standards; coordination of fertilizer, pesticide, and chemical application of appropriate areas; assist with budget management; and oversight of safety training program related to grounds activities. May also include some game administration of sporting events.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one (1) year appropriate experience; or high school diploma and five (5) years of appropriate experience. Must have, or be able to obtain, a Limited Lawn and Ornamental License, pesticide spraying license as governed by Florida Statutes 482 & 487. Prefer sports turf or golf turf preparation and maintenance experience. Management experience also preferred. As a UCFAA, Inc. staff member, the selected candidate will be a person of integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules as they apply to the UCF Athletics program.
