What are the responsibilities and job description for the FAC Mechanical Engineering Intern - Jacob Friend position at UChicago Argonne, LLC?
The ANL Facilities Engineering Group would like to engage the services of a summer intern in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The intern would be required to be on site every day and would likely be involved in both office and field related work.
The proposed activities that the intern will be engaged in include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Assist ANL Mechanical Engineer with sitewide survey, documentation, and categorization of Chilled Water, Steam, Compressed Air, Exhaust and other Facilities services.
- Develop metering plans to illustrate the energy flows of electric, steam, hot water, chilled water, domestic water, and natural gas in a building.
- Participate in new design reviews of Infrastructure and Sustainability-related projects.
- Attend and participate in field investigations and construction site visits/meetings with ANL Mechanical Engineer.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the internship.
- Provide (2) professional reference and academic advisor contact information (if/when selected).
- Undergraduate cumulative minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- 18 years or older at the time the internship begins.
- Satisfactory background check.
- Pass a screening drug test.
- Argonne employees, and certain guest researchers and contractors, are subject to particular restrictions related to participation in Foreign Government Sponsored or Affiliated Activities, as defined and detailed in United States Department of Energy Order 486.1A. HourlyThe expected hiring range for this position is $19.85-$25.81.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
