We are seeking a transformational leader to successfully manage the Emergency Department and to move in the direction of One UChicago Medicine. Reporting to the Executive Director & Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, you will be a strategic partner in setting goals and objectives for the program.
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, and optimize financial performance while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
This position is based at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois.
Who you are:
- Master’s degree required, (MSN, MBA, or MHA).
- Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience and must include leadership experience with operational and budget responsibility in the healthcare environment.
- Background in Emergency Services is required.
- Strong knowledge of financial performance measurement and budgeting required.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative staff.
- Able to navigate effectively with high-level internal and external contacts.
- Understanding of regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, Medicaid, Illinois Department of Public Health requirements and DNV.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a notable record of accomplishments.

What you’ll do as Director, Patient Care Services – Emergency Services, Critical Care, Obstetrics:
- Direct daily operations and implement procedures to ensure the provision of high-quality care and services to patients.
- Coordinate with senior management and managers/ supervisors to ensure operational problems are resolved.
- Analyze and recommend changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures.
- Monitor quality metrics and implement process improvement plans when needed.
- Understand and implement effective human resource management strategies.
- Assume accountability for fiscal/budgetary considerations, including expense management (staffing, recruitment, retention), revenue enhancement and business development.
- Prepare annual budget for the approval.
- Monitor patient admissions, transfers, discharges and census balancing and facilitate patient throughput.
- Assure that service lines operate within all federal and state and regulatory body/agency guidelines.
- Maintain an ongoing public relations program to increase community understanding, improve relations with physicians and other health care clinicians.
- Implement and maintain recordkeeping systems, statistical reporting systems, program documentation, planning, and evaluation.
- Provide leadership in the development of objectives, standards of care, policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
