Join University of Chicago Medicine, as an Advanced Practice Provider in the Trauma Surgery Unit.
As the Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management in the general medicine patient population. The APP will manage a caseload of patients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Additionally, you will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, and completing administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership.

Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job Functions
- Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness
- Pre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests
- Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
- Assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care on an advanced level
- Master's of Science in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice
- Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration
- Must be certified as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
- Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
- Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient Trauma experience as a PA or NP.
- ATLS certification is required within a year from date of hire.
- Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant Trauma Surgery experience as a PA or NP.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s program
- Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois PA licensure / registration
- Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
- Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient Trauma experience as a PA or NP.
- ATLS certification is required within a year from date of hire.
- Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant Trauma Surgery experience as a PA or NP.

- Shift: Rotating, Sun - Sat, 3 (12h) shifts weekly and 1 call shift weekly; every other weekend, every other major holiday
