What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Aides position at UCIC School and Learning Center?

The ( Summer Camp aides) will be joining a team of teachers who feel called to serve God’s youngest children with passion and excellence. The central focus of our team is to connect with each child and family to encourage and support them with God’s love. The Aides will teach and communicate with intention and passion and maintain a culture where all staff can thrive and grow professionally. A culture that glorifies Our Lord and Savior and supports a positive culture for our teachers as well as the children and families that attend our school. The Aide is a critical part of helping our summer program keep the quality and consistency required when one of our lead teachers are unable to work. A position of a summer camp aide is fun and busy one. We have a fun-filled, busy camp with many different activities taking place. These activities include Toontown (VBS), Summer Academy, weekly off-site field trips, and the camp itself. In this position, your positive involvement will stretch you in many ways. While caring/leading for a group of elementary age kids, we encourage leaders to always know the number of children in their group and where each child is, AT ALL TIMES. This is especially important while on off-site field trips and activities where there are open spaces. Also, remaining flexible is essential, because there are changes daily that we must adapt too.

Expectations/ Job Duties:

  • Caring for/engaging with/laughing with/enjoying the summer with all the children (whether they are in your group, or not), is a must.
  • Maintain supervision over your given group of kids.
  • Assist the Group Leads and other staff with maintaining a well-functioning, safe classroom, specialty classes, outdoor play and field trip oversight.
  • Creating a safe, welcoming, positive, environment/group setting.
  • Working as a dependable, positive team member within a large group of staff
  • Assist in guiding and watching both the large group of kids and smaller groups on field trips away from the campus.
  • Maintain a constant count of the number of students under your supervision both on and off campus.
  • Creatively solve problems, conflicts and resolve concerns with students by working with other teachers.
  • Perform tasks independently in a timely manner without direct supervision.
  • Intentionally develop positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Maintain flexibility and the ability to change direction quickly in response to a variety of situations that can occur in the classroom or on a field trip.
  • Work collaboratively with a supervisor, team/staff members, students and their parents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience

  • Christian Commitment: Demonstrated Christian commitment and relationship with Jesus Christ and being active in a local church.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with or teaching toddler, preschool early elementary age children or prior experience in children’s ministry.
  • Licensure/Certification: DEL background check

  • Ability and commitment to work with multi-ethnic, culturally diverse student and parent population.
  • Ability to work with the public in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and composure in a busy, open setting.
  • Must have a patient, child-centered temperament.
  • Must have strong ability to clearly communicate to young children as well as clearly communicate both verbally and in writing to parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a supervisor, coworkers, students and their parents.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience * Education: CDA or working towards one or two year degree in Early Childhood education or teaching experience or a higher degree.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
