The Nursing ProfessionalDevelopment Specialist (NPDS) will support and oversee the Patient EducationProgram. The NPDS collaborates with patients, physicians, nurses, clinicalunits / departments, marketing, translation services, third party vendors, andothers, to ensure all patient-facing communication, education, and consentsalign with mandated literacy and readability requirements. The NPDS performsroutine assessments of individual, focus-specific, and system-wide patientlearning needs. The NPDS develops and supports the infrastructure of resourcesavailable to address patient education gaps. The role also supports clinician(primarily nursing) education, professional / leadership development, policies,activities, and assessment tools; promotes excellence in patient care, throughskill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry;collaborates with nursing leadership (Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Specialist,and Nursing Professional Development Specialists) to deliver educationalprograms and secure resources based on needs assessments and adult learningtheory; and meets the diverse requirements of the nursing units, patientpopulations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of theorganization / health system.
Salary Range : $124,600 to $289,400Annually (budget = $135,720 β $197,775 depending on paid professionalexperience)
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current CA RN license
- Certified within area of specialty (preferred)
- MSN in Nursing Education or MSN with post certificate in Nursing Education (required)
- 3 years of recent acute care experience
- Position can be filled as CNE 3 if candidate is completing educational requirement.
