What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Research Associate II - Neurology position at UCLA Health Careers?
Under supervision of Principal Investigator (PI), the Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will primarily be responsible for planning and carrying out experiments related to studies of neurodegenerative disorders and neural repair. This includes literature searches, animal husbandry (mouse) and bench work involving lab techniques focused in molecular and cellular biology. You will be responsible for maintaining multiple transgenic mouse colonies and generating new ones, researching modern animal husbandry techniques as the apply to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and the animal models we use, requiring journey level knowledge and skill. You will be responsible for planning experiments and performing them, both magnetic resonance imaging and histology, both requiring journey level knowledge and skill for their implementation. You will also be responsible for data analysis and interpretation, maintenance of the database of experimental results, assisting with figures, and writing results and methods sections of grant applications and publications. The SRA II will train new technicians and students in the lab and provide technical assistance to them as needed. You will be responsible for writing, managing, and updating the IACUC and IBC protocols and SOPs. The SRA II will function as lab manager, ordering reagents and supplies, maintaining lab records, dispose of hazardous waste, and be responsible for day-to-day lab safety, delegating and supervising as they deem appropriate.
Salary Range: $28.88 - $46.46/Hourly
