Dietetic Assistant

DescriptionUnder the supervision of the NICU / Pediatric Dietitian / Supervisor and / or Chief Clinical Dietitian, this job includes identifying patients needing breast milk and formula preparation, interpreting feeding orders, and creating formula recipes as well as breast milk fortification recipes.Duties include : Review feeding orders and calculate amount of breast milk or formula needed for each patientFortify breast milk as ordered using syringes and appropriate measuring tools as applicable for each of the fortifiersPrepare specialized formulasLabel all syringes and / or formulas to include patient's name, room number, type of formula, caloric density, date and time of preparation and expiration datesKeeps daily formula preparation log accurately and consistentlyMonitors inventory, maintains par level and restocks as neededCommunicates with RDs, purchasing and storeroom when specialty products are lowDeliver labeled, prepared syringe to bedside RN for immediate use as neededResponsible for the cleaning and proper storage of formula preparation equipmentSalary Range : $25.11- $33.17 HourlyQualificationsAssociate's Degree or 4 years of relevant experience in health, nutrition or dieteticsBachelor's degree (preferred)Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) certification (preferred)Infant feeding technician certificate (preferred)Healthcare experience with pediatric patientsKnowledge of preparing breast milk and formula recipes.Ability to interpret medical nutrition orders and manage feeding plans.Strong organizational and communication skills.Familiarity with food safety standards and EHR systems.Detail-oriented, compassionate, and team-focused.Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends / holidays.UCLA Health welcomes all individuals, without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin or disabilities, and we proudly look to each person’s unique achievements and experiences to further set us apart.
