DescriptionUnder direct supervisionof a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatient practice area,performs those repetitive and manipulative activities which primarily consistof drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintaining the inventory in the Pyxismedstations (filling the medstation daily, checking for outdates), IV andchemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping (refrigerator temperature logsand hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping and security functions.Schedule : varied shifts, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidaysHourly Salary Range : $25.7831.42Bargaining Unit : EX -AFSCMEQualificationsCA Pharmacy Technicianlicense - Required.Ability to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.Knowledge of pharmaceutical generic and trade names and their dosage forms, andthe ability to cross-reference the most common drugs from memory.Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimalsupervision.Skill in computer order entry of medication orders as well as other relatedcomputer entry tasks and computer report generation.Telephone and verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectivelywith pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other allied health professionals.Ability to compound chemotherapy solution utilizing departmental guidelines forthe preparation / distribution of cytotoxic agents.Ability to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbsUCLA Health welcomes all individuals, without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin or disabilities, and we proudly look to each person’s unique achievements and experiences to further set us apart.
