Under\ndirect supervision of a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatient\npractice area, performs those repetitive and manipulative activities which\nprimarily consist of drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintaining the\ninventory in the Pyxis medstations (filling the medstation daily, checking for\noutdates), IV and chemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping\n(refrigerator temperature logs and hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping and\nsecurity functions.
Schedule : \nVaried hours, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays
Hourly\nSalary Range : $25.78 – 31.42 (Union represented, step based salary depending on\nyears of experience)
Bargaining\nUnit : EX - AFSCME
Qualifications
CA\nPharmacy Technician license – Required.
Ability\nto accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.
Knowledge\nof pharmaceutical generic and trade names and their dosage forms, and the\nability to cross-reference the most common drugs from memory.
Knowledge\nof medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
Skill in\npreparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
Ability\nto work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal\nsupervision.
Skill in\ncomputer order entry of medication orders as well as other related computer\nentry tasks and computer report generation.
Telephone\nand verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectively with\npharmacists, nurses, physicians and other allied health professionals.
Ability\nto compound chemotherapy solution utilizing departmental guidelines for the\npreparation / distribution of cytotoxic agents.
Ability\nto lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs
