Job Description : Description Performs hand and arm scrub according to Department Policy and\nProcedure. Dons sterile gown and gloves. Sets up instrumentation and equipment\nas dictated by Department guidelines. Performs counts with the\ncirculating nurse before, during and after the procedure as required. \nAssists surgeons gown, glove, and after skin preparation is completed, assist\nwith the draping. Safely passes instruments, sponges, and sutures during\nthe procedure. Maintains the sterile field and ensures that all members\nof the team adhere to specific technique. Verifies and prepares medications and\nsolutions to be administered within the sterile field, and maintains an\naccurate accounting of amounts used. Handles all specimens in an\nappropriate fashion : specimen name, body location, and proper\ndisposition. Provides safe patient care and maintains patient\ndignity. Assists in application of dressings and casts. Handles all\ninstrumentation in a careful manner. Upon completion of the procedure,\nprepares instruments and equipment for cleaning. Assists with operating\nroom clean up following the Universal Precautions. Proficient in\nscrubbing in one or more specialty service. Salary Range : $45.17 hourly \n Qualifications \n Working knowledge of use, function, and operation of operating room\n equipment, instrumentation, and furniture.\n Working knowledge of operating room sanitation.\n Working knowledge of aseptic technique.\n Working knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and terminology.\n Ability to communicate with other staff to obtain and provide\n information.\n Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships\n with peers and other co-workers.\n Ability to accept shift changes to meet the department's needs.\n Skill in setting priorities, recognizing emergency situations and\n taking appropriate action based on past experiences or according to\n instruction from the nurse in charge.\n Skill in performing independently and following through on\n assignment with minimal direction and supervision.\n Ability in performing repetitive work according to set procedures,\n sequence, and pace.\n Ability to respond to emergency calls, in case of a disaster, and to\n follow instructions.\n Ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle\n surgical equipment carefully and safely, and stand for long periods of time.\n Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by\n participating in various types of training courses.\n BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required.\n High School Diploma / GED - required.\n Eye surgical procedure experience - required. \n Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - preferred.\n
