The Training and Organizational Development (TOD) Manager leads UCLA's Housing & Hospitality (H&H) employee development and learning initiatives. This role is responsible for conducting needs assessments, identifying training gaps, and implementing solutions that support the department's goals. The TOD Manager oversees centrally-coordinated training programs, including compliance training, guest service essentials, career development, mentoring, onboarding, leadership coaching, wellness events, and language/job skills development. Will design, deliver and evaluate customized training solutions for H&H 10 operational areas and 2700 employees. Will provide strategic and operational support for workplace experience programs, ensuring alignment with H&H's Mission, Vision and Values. This role plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of exceptional guest service, teamwork, and employee growth. This position directly supports H&H's Strategic Initiatives by enhancing employee experience's, strengthening leadership capabilities, and driving operational excellence.


Salary & Compensation



  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications


  • 3 years demonstrated experience designing, implementing and delivering learning and development programs in a variety of modalities. (Required)
  • 5 years demonstrated experience designing, implementing and delivering learning and development programs in a variety of modalities. (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years experience developing & implementing talent management strategies, employee recognition programs, and organizational development programs & best practices. (Required)
  • 1-2 years instructional design experience (Required)
  • 1-2 years hospitality or higher education industry experience (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing training programs or modules for adult learners (Required)
  • Ability to plan and facilitate cross-functional working team meetings (Required)
  • Ability to establish rapport and trust with individuals and groups and effectively encourage them regarding personal and professional skills development (Required)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (Required)
  • Ability to clearly convey ideas, directions, and problems to individuals, various groups, and committees through effective oral presentations (including through the use of PowerPOint), to provide information, explain procedures, and persuade others. (Required)
  • Skill in writing grammatically correct business and meeting correspondence, such as memos, e-mails, letters, agendas, minutes, training proposals, training curriculum; skil in writing concise logical and analytical reports. (Required)
  • Skill in motivating people to take effective action and to create a positive work environment. (Required)
  • Ability to work as part of team and to collaborate successfully with colleagues. (Required)
  • Skill in time management and managing multiple deadlines, Perform well under pressure. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal amount of supervision, and to follow through and complete assignments in a timely fashion. (Required)
  • Possess advanced proficiency and skill in Office 365 applications (Outlook, Forms, and PowerPoint). Possess high proficiency in using Excel and database software to create reports. (Required)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Effectiveness, or related field (Preferred)
  • Coaching certification (Preferred)
  • Crucial Conversations (Preferred)
  • Fluent in speaking, writing and reading Spanish (Preferred)
