General Description
Clinical Instructors responsibilities include the supervision and evaluation of clinical lab and / or patient care experiences as assigned by the Paramedic Program Director. Clinical Instructors will assist Hospital-based Clinical Educators to monitor student clinical progress.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Coordinates supervision and provide regular assessments of students' progress in achieving acceptable program requirements.
- Attends clinical sessions as needed.
- Meets with assigned students at least twice per month during clinical rotations
- Reviews documentation completed by preceptors and verifies appropriate entry into the Platinum Planner data tracking tool; maintain privacy of all passwords and student information
- Ensures student compliance with required timelines.
- Serves as liaison with Hospital-based Clinical Educators to ensure that each hospital rotation site receives an annual curriculum or documentation updates as appropriate; assists Program Director with documentation of these meetings.
- Assists program director in maintaining current clinical affiliation agreements with sponsor hospitals / Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs).
- Advises Program Director of absences in a timely manner.
- Attends scheduled program staff meetings.
- Represents the College and Program appropriately to the community.
- Plans in advance to ensure availability of clinical opportunities essential for teaching of assigned skills.
- Adheres to professional standards of practice.
- Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Experience
Competencies and Skills Required
o Clinical and / or instructional experience in paramedicine
o Demonstration of clinical techniques as defined by the paramedic scope of practice

Terms of Employment
Part Time position, not to exceed 25 hours per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the College. Hours outside of the traditional weekday work schedule may be required, including evenings and weekends. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
