Duties
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows established methods and techniques in performing a single or sequence of operations required in various production and development processes associated with the chemical and physical change of materials.
- Adjusts, regulates, controls, and operates a wide variety of standard and specialized processes and associated equipment.
- Uses various measuring and recording equipment and devices. Maintains detailed records of inventory and process quantities. Must undergo extensive training, examination, and certification in required areas.
- Segregate Nuclear and Chemical process waste and package for shipment/disposal in accordance with applicable regulations, DOE orders and UCOR procedures.
- Respond to alarms at Tank Farms, Control Rooms, and other Facilities.
- Responsible for records/documentation related to facility operations.
- Must successfully pass Operator qualification/requalification program as required.
Job-Related Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate of Applied Science in Chemistry or other related science; ELT in U.S. Navy Nuclear Program or other equivalent experience
- Ability to pass an alcohol and drug screen
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to drive/operate government equipment/vehicles
- Requires 36 months minimum experience in Nuclear Facility Operations related to the job duties, or the equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
- Must be able to read, write and understand written and oral instructions, procedures, Radiological Work Permits, facility/equipment postings, operator aids, and other applicable documents.
- Must achieve competency with data entry techniques.
- Must meet the physical requirements for Non-Reactor Nuclear (NRN) worker as identified in DOE Order No. 426.2.
- Must be able to work safely with hazardous chemicals and radiological contamination by recognizing hazards and working with specifically defined requirements.
- Must be able to meet medical requirements for wearing personal protective equipment including respirators, anti-contamination clothing, splash and leak proof clothing and hearing protection.
- Routinely lifts, moves and transports 25-30 lbs.
- Routinely climbs ladders and stairs as part of daily function.
- Shift work is required.
