What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Lab Scientist - Microbiology position at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The clinical laboratory scientist performs routine and complex laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established procedures and quality control guidelines.
POSITION REQUIREMENT:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field of Life Science with Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Skills & Abilities:
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic skills of computer operation is required.
Must be flexible to work on weekends as per the Clinical Laboratory needs.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Must have good interpersonal relation skills and high standards of customer service.
Licenses/Certification: Must have CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist license and /or California Public Health Microbiologist Certificate. Additionally ASCP certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Sit up to 8 hours/day
Stand/walk up to 6 hours/day
Repeated use of instruments/equipment up to 8 hours/day
Lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs.
