What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Care Practitioner Transport Trainee position at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland?
Job Summary/Description:
Responsible for the assessment of respiratory patients with acute and chronic illnesses to ensure delivery of clinically appropriate respiratory care procedures, as prescribed by the medical staff for neonate, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients. Becomes competent as a Transport RCP and participates in precepted ride along on-shift.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited school of Respiratory Care program or equivalent to be licensed. Successful completion of the Respiratory Care Team Leader is preferred.
Experience: One year of Neonatal/pediatric acute and intensive care experience and successful completion of all acute and critical care competency and department check off lists. Competency grid resource number 4.
Required Certificate/License: Current CA RCP license, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), BLS and NRP certifications required, PALS certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to use sound medical judgments in traumatic situations. Effective communication skills. Ability to use computer systems. Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Able to perform CPR.
• Able to meet the physical and mobility demands of a transport team member.
• Able to lift infant, toddler, and pediatric patients.
• Able to lift, push, or pull medical transport equipment.
