What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner CNR Shared Services position at UCSF Health?
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Cancer Services Surgical Oncology clinics. In collaboration with the supervising physician and the administrative supervisor, the NP provides clinical guidance and care for patients receiving treatment(s) for cancer, including pre- and post-operative management and optimization, symptom management, care coordination, assistance with triage, and other duties as assigned.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience as a surgical oncology nurse practitioner
- This position requires flexibility for the provider to work at all UCSF Health licensed facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of oncology experience
- A Masters’ degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and/or other specific qualifications may also be required by individual user departments.
- Previous employment in a University Medical Center
- Interest in teaching
- AOCNP certification
License/Certification
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.

Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
