Job Description: The Uda Law Firm is the leading renewable energy law firm in the state of Montana representing independent power producers in contract negotiations with the state’s largest utility and litigation before the state utility commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and in state and federal court. We regularly practice before the Montana Public Service Commission on all matters related to energy law issues, including proceedings related to representation of Qualifying Facilities pursuant to the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, utility ratemaking cases, and rulemakings related to energy issues.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in renewable energy law, utility law, and/or environmental law. The candidate will work closely with project developers seeking power purchase agreements and interconnection agreements with electric utilities operating in Montana and surrounding states. We also provide legislative advocacy services and, at times, representation in family law matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and support on renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, small-hydro, energy storage, and other energy efficiency initiatives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, briefs, and regulatory documents.
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to renewable energy regulations and policies.
- Litigate on behalf of clients before the Montana Public Service Commission, state courts, and federal courts.
- Assist clients in navigating complex legal issues and compliance requirements concerning generator interconnection, transmission, and other project development issues.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to develop innovative solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, legislative changes, and emerging technologies in renewable energy.
- Location: Strong preference for Helena, Montana, but willing to consider remote (must be in Montana)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
