Job Summary/Objective
The Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the efficient movement of goods, materials, and products across various stages of the supply chain. This role involves coordinating logistics operations, optimizing transportation, and managing warehousing activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. The Logistics Lead will work closely with the operations team to monitor processes, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.
*on call 1 -2 weekends a month
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Logistics Coordination:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Plan and coordinate the movement of goods from suppliers to warehouses and customers, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Collaborate with transportation partners to negotiate contracts and optimize routes for cost-effectiveness.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels, track shipments, and ensure accurate stock counts.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure the proper handling, storage, and organization of inventory.
- Implement inventory control processes and procedures to minimize errors and stock discrepancies.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline logistics operations.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement improvements in logistics workflows, inventory management, and transportation systems.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise the logistics team, including warehouse staff and transportation personnel.
- Provide guidance and training to team members, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct performance evaluations and help in the recruitment and development of staff.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all logistics operations comply with relevant regulations, including safety, environmental, and legal standards.
- Monitor and maintain safe working practices within the logistics department, ensuring that all team members follow safety protocols.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports regarding shipments, inventory, and performance metrics.
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and any issues encountered.
- Address any discrepancies or delays in shipments and provide solutions to mitigate future occurrences.
- Customer Service:
- Collaborate with customer service teams to address and resolve customer queries related to delivery and logistics.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and accurate deliveries while minimizing errors in the process.
Qualifications:
Experience: (required)
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience: (preferred)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, CLTD, or other logistics/supply chain certifications) are a plus.
