Salary Range: $70 - $80 p/hour

The Electrical Commissioning Technician is responsible for testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment in various industrial, projects. The role involves ensuring that all electrical systems are properly installed, function correctly, and meet safety and quality standards, including conducting NETA (National Electrical Testing Association) National Electrical Acceptance Testing. The technician will collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure timely completion and compliance with project specifications.
Essential Duties:
- Inspect, test, and commission electrical equipment and systems, including control panels, switchboards, transformers, motors, and other related components.
- Perform NETA National Electrical Acceptance Testing (NEAT) to ensure electrical systems meet the required standards and specifications before being put into service.
- Conduct electrical system inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during installation and commissioning stages.
- Perform functional testing and system validation to ensure all systems are operational and meet performance specifications.
- Review and understand project electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure proper installation.
- Calibrate and configure electrical equipment as per manufacturer guidelines and project requirements.
- Work closely with electrical engineers to verify system performance and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of tests, inspections, and commissioning activities for reporting purposes, including NETA acceptance testing results.
- Collaborate with other technical staff to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems with other building systems (HVAC, fire alarms, etc.).
- Adhere to safety protocols and practices, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Provide technical support and guidance to contractors, subcontractors, and junior technicians as required
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience required.
- Experience working with or as a site automation engineer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Preference given to candidates with experience in commissioning, testing, or maintaining industrial systems or equipment within the Arctic oil and gas sector.
