United Dairy Farmers is seeking a Route Supervisor at the UDF Bakery/Commissary located in Blue Ash, OH. This a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Commissary Distribution Manager.
The Route Supervisor manages driver schedules and ensures that all routes are dispatched daily, stores delivered accurately, completes safety inspections, oversees environmental aspects and cleanliness of trucks. all drivers are compliant with company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Achieve safe, timely, and accurate deliveries to customers via a thorough working knowledge of multi-stop routing systems and dispatch procedures.
· Oversee daily operations of a fleet of 19 refrigerated box trucks and 25 FTE drivers, supervising to ensure effective management and operational excellence
· Coordinating the logistical aspects of fleet management, including overseeing trucks get serviced and PM maintenance, scheduling, route optimization, and driver deployment.
· Responsible for ensuring all drivers follow operational processes and procedures.
· Uses judgement to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day to day technical and operational problems.
· Work with 3 party providers as required to address service concerns or disruptions and develop contingency plans to ensure deliveries to stores are completed.
· Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations and company safety standards across all transportation activities, as they apply to physicals.
· Proactively address and resolve any fleet or transportation-related issues, maintaining lofty standards of service and reliability to the stores.
· Ensures unloading of truck empty racks, crates and trays are completed by drivers.
· Assist Distribution Manager with the management of the driver team to include, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and discipline.
· Maintaining accurate and compliant records and documentation related to fleet and driver activities. Review driver paperwork for reporting milk crate and tray returns.
· Follows up on driver reported truck issues and resolves truck problems through 3 party service provider.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Supervision leading a team of delivery drivers and managing routes.
· Ability to work all necessary work schedules, including holidays/weekends.
Certification: DOT Medical Card Required and valid driver’s license, Clean driving record (3 years).
Interpersonal Ability: Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal and receive directive from management and complete tasks by utilizing your team for successful outcomes.
Organizational Ability: Ability to organize your own workload and the workload of team members so routes are dispatched and completed accurately and in an efficient manner.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables within the Transit Department using knowledge of Policies and SOPs to mediate through situations that may arise.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel and Fleet Management Software.
Physical Skills: The physical demands and work environment characteristics exerting up to 50 pounds of force and lifting. Exposure to internal and external environmental conditions.
