Overview
The Women's Health Oncology RN Navigator is the primary point of contact for an assigned group of women’s health oncology patients, their families, caregivers, and referring physicians. This candidate demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, allied health providers, and administrative support staff to identify and overcome barriers to care, ensure seamless care coordination, provide timely access to services, and deliver education and support throughout the cancer continuum.
Responsibilities
This role will help support the weekly multidisciplinary tumor conferences for the assigned disease site group(s), ensuring that all necessary case materials, such as radiology, pathology, and outside treatment records, are available before the conference. Additionally, the candidate ensures that patients are scheduled appropriately, follow-up recommendations are implemented, and patients receive education regarding their diagnosis and tumor conference recommendations.
Serving as the liaison between internal and external referring physicians, other members of the care team, and patients, the oncology navigator ensures that clinical and administrative information is communicated in a timely manner, patients’ emotional and support needs are addressed, and care transitions are seamless throughout the healthcare system.
This role collaborates with the department manager, physician leaders, and the Cancer Registry, Medical Group and Community Outreach Team to support community outreach and education initiatives for their assigned disease site group(s).
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered with relevant experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Florida Registered Nurse Licensures
Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or Breast Navigator Certificate (BHCN) required within 1-year of hire.
BLS required
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Bilingual is a plus.
