The Medical Staff Services Department is responsible for facilitation of the business of the collective Organized Medical and Clinical Staff. This position is responsible for all aspects of their assigned Departments/Divisions/Committees to include vetting and processing of appointment and reappointment applications, elevations, privileges
additions/deletions/changes, proctoring, ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations, leaves of absence, alternate and/or supervisor changes, resignations, etc. In addition, this position coordinates, facilitates, attends, records, and follows up with all applicable meeting functions pertaining to their assigned areas.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates assigned Department/Division Medical Staff and Clinical Staff credentialing and privileging activities, from receipt of application, to Credentials Committee, to include developing database information for practitioner, verifying all background information, performing required internet search of information on practitioner, analyzing information obtained to insure completeness of file, preparing temporary privileges forms, preparing appointment letters for President’s signature, performing all follow-up activity through to elevation of the practitioner. Computerizing privileges granted.
- Coordinates assigned Department/Division reappointments, from receipt of application to Credentials Committee to include updating database information, verifying all background information, performing required internet searches, comparing data received to current file, analyzing information obtained and insuring completeness of file. Ensures 100% of reappointment files are scheduled for Board review before expiration dates.
- Provides meeting coverage, recording discussions, typing and proofing minutes and performing necessary meeting follow up and/or necessary correspondence. In addition, provides backup coverage as needed for unassigned committees.
- Coordinates assigned Department/Division privileges changes, alternate/supervisor changes, leaves of absence, resignations, ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations, and any special requirements placed upon practitioners. Ensures accurate updates in database.
- Types and proofreads, on an accurate and timely basis, various office documents, and provides research services via internet, phone/mail contact, etc. as requested.
- As needed, assists visitors to Department and answers Department telephones with an emphasis on accuracy and positive customer service. Maintains strict confidentiality of information at all times.
- Ensures on-going and annual updates/scheduling for assigned Department/Division goals, quality indicator reviews, delineation of privileges forms, CQRC representatives and Chief voting eligibility and elections.
- All other duties as assigned by department.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/Equivalent is required.
1 year of experience credentialing in a healthcare environment is required.
CPSCS Certification required or become CPSCS Certified within 3 years of acquiring position.
