Overview : JOB DUTIES
Under the direction of the Audiologist, performs newborn hearing screenings with the Pediatric Hearing Program for infants at all normal, special care, and intensive care nurseries at Shands Jacksonville and provides information to families and medical staff under the direction of the audiologist.
Essential Functions
Perform hearing screens at the normal newborn, special care, and intensive care nursery at Shands Jacksonville which are reviewed by the audiologist.
Assist in maintenance of testing and evaluation equipment.
Based on screening results, schedules follow-up appointments, provides information to families and medical staff using criteria established by the audiologist.
Participate in ongoing staff training as required by employer, program and State of Florida licensure requirements.

Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Concisely communicate and relate to all levels of the organization, customers and outside agencies.
Proficient in conducting pediatric hearing screening.
Ability to work with infants, children, and their families.
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments to work independently as well as a collaborative team member.
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.

Strong interpersonal skills including a professional and positive demeanor.
Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Training Medical Assistant required
1-year Pediatric experience as an MA, CNA, or EMT preferred.
Education :
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required Training
Medical Assistant required.
Additional Details :
Graduation from approved EMT military Emergency Medical Technician school may be substituted.
