Overview
The Orthopaedic Cast Technician provides patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. The technician participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting by : fabricating, applying, maintaining and removing casts, splints, Orthopaedic soft goods and other musculoskeletal dressing and appliances; by assisting other nursing staff and health care providers with daily patient flow; exams, simple and complex procedures. Assures appropriate visit notes, tests, and / or x-ray results are available for visit. Performs clinic-specific technical skills. Maintains clinic environment, including supplies and equipment. The Orthopaedic Cast Technician may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical records functions. May be required to float to other practices as needed for staffing.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
- The candidate must possess one of the following education and experience requirements :
Completion of an Orthopaedic Technologist certified school / program.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation :
NOTE : A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his / her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his / her job.
