Pharmacy IV Tech | Pharmacy | Full-time | Variable

Overview

The Registered Pharmacy IV Tech supports the pharmacist in supplying patients with pharmaceutical products. Under supervision, the technician prepares and distributes medications and supplies, prepare compounded sterile medications using aseptic techniques, refill automated dispensing machines, communicates pertinent information to internal and external customers, and manages inventory.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing medications and pharmaceutical supplies for patients under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Prepares IV admixture solutions, special doses, TPN and chemotherapy medications.
• Assists with medication restock in automated dispensing cabinets. Delivers drugs to patient care and other areas of the hospital as needed
• Assists in the prepackaging of solid and liquid doses.
• Prepares unit dose medications as per computer labels and fill lists. Accurately enters information into the computer; produces profiles, charges, and fill lists at the appropriate time.
• Answers the telephone, receiving and relaying messages as needed.
• Unpacks and stores supplies. Verifies items received against invoices, and stores perishables appropriately. Checks invoices against purchase orders to make sure that all items are received and charges are correct.
• Assists in performing monthly medication room inspections, and participates in the quality assurance program.
  
  

Qualifications

Education / Training

• High School Diploma/Equivalent
  
  

Experience Requirements

• 1-year IV Admix
  
  

Preferences:

3 years of hospital pharmacy and IV admixture experience preferred

Certificates/Licenses/Registration

• Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) in Florida
  
  

Preferences:

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) preferred.
