What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referral Coordinator, Full-Time Monday-Friday 8am-5pm St. Augustine position at UF Health?
The Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals for patients within the clinic. Provides support for a variety of other front office duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Processes patient referrals to specialty providers by preparing medical charts and records providing appropriate clinical information to specialist. Provides follow up to external office/ specialist regarding referral status.
- Obtains authorizations for patient referrals. Ensures complete and accurate patient demographics and insurance information. Advises physician if authorization request is denied.
- Coordinates referral appointments and corresponds with patient, external providers, and insurance companies as necessary in a timely manner.
- Responds to physician's requests and concerns regarding the status of patient referrals, care coordination or follow-up status.
- Performs any special assignments or tasks as needed
Qualifications
One year of Clerical Medical Facility/Physician’s Office experience is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferences:
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
