Job Summary

This position requires a solid understanding of current design software and the ability to contribute to the design process from concept to final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams across the company, the Graphic Designer will help convey UFCU’s brand and corporate identity through designs that connect with our members. The Graphic Designer should have a good understanding of branding and marketing and be able to find the right style and layout for various projects within the brand guidelines and standards. This job reports to the Creative Services Manager.

Primary Objectives:

  • Work on a variety of projects and media, using various software programs to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals.
  • Obtain input from managers and partners to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately.
  • Work independently as well as cooperatively with the marketing team to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project implementation based on workload, which may include multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Assist in examining existing processes, identifying flaws, and creating solutions that improve design capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with key stakeholders on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, marketing materials, and print media including ads, annual reports, brochures, and flyers.
  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
  • Create and maintain internal documentation in support of organization brand guidelines for all external marketing communications and keep current as the brand evolves.
  • Collaborate with writers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to create designs and layouts across every Member-facing business unit of the organization.
  • Develop concepts by hand or with software and execute original content by determining the ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
  • Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials.
  • Use trend intelligence and knowledge of historical and current markets when designing and executing specific classifications.
  • Strong ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize and validate ideas, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Coordinate project production with printers and other vendors.
  • Ability to translate and communicate established marketing strategies into clear, concise, appealing visuals consistent with the brand image to internal business partners.
  • Always work collaboratively with business units to assist in the development of projects and campaigns to meet UFCU strategic objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Creativity and design skills.
  • Experience with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of video and photo production preferred.
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in an evolving/fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to meet values of UFCU.

Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in content, content marketing, communications, or editing for a wide range of deliverables, including digital, video, and print media. Examples of previous work required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working in graphic design with experience with Adobe Creative Suite – Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Portfolio of previous work required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier, Figma.

Frequent computer use at a workstation up to two hours at a time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
