The Mortgage Branch Manager oversees the day-to-day Mortgage operations in conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer and Associate Director of Mortgage Loan Operations. This position leads Member Experience and Operational Excellence roadmap activities, monitors implementation of strategic initiatives, and monitors mortgage performance.

Essential Functions
Mortgage Operations Leadership
- Oversee the day-to-day Mortgage operations in conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer (CLO) and Associate Director of Mortgage Loan Operations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CLO, managing relationships on behalf of the CLO, driving progress around organizational goals, and collaborating with others on the leadership team to achieve those goals.
- Partner with senior management to research and resolve key and emerging issues.
- Ensure the seamless flow of information and communication among the senior management team to facilitate timely and effective decision-making.
Mortgage Initiatives Leadership
- Lead the mortgage team’s Member Experience and Operational Excellence Roadmap activities in conjunction with the CLO, Associate Director of Mortgage Loan Operations, and outside vendor partners.
- Oversee certain cross-functional strategic initiatives on behalf of the CLO and/or mortgage leadership.
- Monitor implementation of strategic business initiatives as a key stakeholder.
- Participate in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of strategic mortgage risk.
- Participate in development of business initiative roadmaps to ensure alignment with strategic mortgage goals.
Mortgage Performance Leadership
- Meet and exceed sales management goals, pipeline goals, and new business generation goals to increase market share.
- Drive change management to align the mortgage team with changing industry needs, member, and partner expectations.
- Oversee branch performance and communicate goals and policy changes on a regular basis to branch personnel, including Loan Officers and Business Development Specialists.
Mortgage Compliance Oversight
- Monitor loan quality to ensure it is aligned with company policies and procedures, and in compliance with state, regional, and federal guidelines.
- Ensure all staff members follow branch procedures, policies, and protocols.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, hire and train Mortgage team members.
- Lead, train, and motivate Mortgage team members to achieve sales goals.
Business Development
- Actively participate in the community alongside other members of the Mortgage team to promote UFCU with business partners and referral networks, including realtors, with strong attention to reputation management.
Budget/Expense Development and Management
- Establish and monitor budget and income goals within predetermined guidelines as directed by the CLO.
- Ensure that mortgage lending goals are met within budget.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
- Complete required regulatory training as assigned.
- Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.

Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree. Four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of mortgage lending experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of formal or informal management and leadership experience developing and/or leading teams.
- Must be able to complete all phases of the mortgage loan origination process and have demonstrated knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional residential mortgage loan products and regulations.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in banking, finance, business administration, or economics.
- Ten (10) or more years of mortgage lending experience.
- Seven (7) or more years of formal or informal management and leadership experience developing and/or leading teams, preferably in sales management, customer service, operations, business development, or human resources.
- Prior credit union experience.
