Intern - Data Analytics

Job Summary

This role is primarily responsible for developing data-driven insights and solutions to difficult business challenges for a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams within our Retail operations. Related functions include data mining, exploratory analysis, and building and implementing models and forecasts. You will be helping UFCU understand trends using analytical tools like PowerBI and SQL.

The 10-week internship program begins June 2, 2025 through August 8, 2025.

Essential Functions

Analysis and Insights

• Perform exploratory analysis to identify patterns and develop insights.
• Communicate insights and opportunities with key business partners. Establish business needs.
• Assist in design and development of models and forecasts in alignment with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
• Manage project meetings and coordinate implementation with key partners. Ensure results meet expectations and are understood. Request and incorporate feedback.
  
  

Data Advocacy

• Maintain a working knowledge of organizational goals, strategic initiatives and available data assets.
• Assist with data collection and curation. Assure security and integrity of data at all times, including during extraction, storage, manipulation, processing, analysis and distribution.
• Encourage and support appropriate use and understanding of available data assets by all employees.
• Actively seek out and explore process improvement opportunities.

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
• Complete required regulatory Training as assigned.
• Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations and internal controls specific to your role, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending regulations.
  
  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of and experience with Excel and SQL required, Power BI and Python preferred.
• Good communication skills with the ability to:
• Effectively listen to others.

• Possess high-level of analytical acuity and intellectual curiosity.
• Attention to detail and accuracy are required to proficiently generate numerous financial reports and statements in a timely manner utilizing software applications.

Experience

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student with accredited college or universities
• Course work in quantitative major such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.
• Course work in data analysis with regression analysis
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license. Job may require travel to various locations throughout the Austin metro area.
  
  

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with major in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analysis, or Computer Science
• Graduate work in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Analysis, Predictive Analytics, etc.
