What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVP - Field Enablement position at UFG?
UFG is currently hiring for an AVP - Field Enablement who will lead processes, training and communication to the field working closely with the line of business leaders to effectively execute LOB strategies in underwriting and underwriting support. The individual in this role develops a communication framework, manages the field support team, produces underwriting authority letters, manages the consolidation of guidelines, and leads process development/optimization for business operations. This role will also set strategy for the training and onboarding of UFG underwriters and underwriting support.
Responsibilities:
- Draft authority letters through collaboration with LoB leaders. Manage underwriting authority letter creation and distribution across UFG.
- Act as business owner of application toolset within accountability area
- Establish and manage LoB guidelines across multiple lines, consolidating when necessary and driving towards consistent, consumable content. Lead effort to develop additional guidelines ensuring that guidelines align to internal and external compliance regulations.
- Engage with necessary stakeholders to develop a robust onboarding process for UFG underwriters and underwriting support. Proactively implement process improvements that align content with business objectives.
- In collaboration with underwriting leadership, identify training needs through evaluation of underwriting QA results, internal audit findings, communication of needs from UW leadership or other methods. Partner with L&K to create field training strategy and act as subject matter expert in development of training plans.
- Lead the FaST Team, identifying common concerns, tracking data trends and ensuring alignment with UFG’s strategic priorities.
- Develop content and manage communication with field operations, providing information for our underwriters and underwriting support to make sound decisions that align with our risk appetite.
- Work closely with the Product Enablement group to coordinate the communication, training and process refinement resulting from product updates.
- Define efficient workflow procedures by seeking stakeholder feedback, researching and gathering data, looking for efficiencies across regions/lines, establishing processes and documenting and communicating changes.
- Ensure published guidelines and procedures align to both internal and external compliance standards.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal business partners to assure that corporate goals are achieved, service standards are met, and any concerns are addressed.
- Oversee the hiring, training, onboarding, and development of team members through regular conversations, goal setting, and KPI (Key Performance Indicators) tracking within the UFG performance management framework.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Four-year college degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Accounting required
- Master’s degree preferred
- CPCU designation preferred
Experience:
- Ten years of insurance experiences required, and five years of management experience preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- A good understanding of the needs of the insurance marketplace including those of UFG field, agents and insureds
- Ability to successfully deal with people in a tactful and diplomatic manner
- Self-starting, organized, and able to work autonomously
- Ability to be confidential and maintain privacy
- Knowledge of the regulatory aspects of operating in the UW P&C insurance marketplace
- Leader with a strategic mindset and demonstrated relationship-building ability that provides direction for the field
- Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to multi-task and accept challenges
- Ability to handle large workload, prioritize to meet deadlines and effectively communicate options and ramifications to executive leadership
- Ability to develop productive relationships with key stakeholders
- Demonstrate an open-minded, collaborative work style
