As an Internal Audit Intern, you will have the opportunity to perform risk-based evaluations, as well as providing advice and insight under moderate supervision that helps UFG achieve enterprise goals. Your job is to ensure that all the business processes in the company are compliant with Sarbanes Oxley requirements, compliant with regulatory requirements, ensure that the organization is complying with relevant laws, and evaluate internal controls and make recommendations on how to improve them.
Here’s what to expect:
- Perform IT and/or Financial Statement (Sarbanes-Oxley) testing in accordance with department standards and established audit program(s)
- Identify audit issues, including root cause(s), that are discovered during audit testing
- Ensure that recommendations are clearly presented to and agreed upon by various levels of Management
- Evaluate and propose potential opportunities to improve internal processes and/or the reliability of the data
- Coordinate/complete special requests, projects, reports, and other audits as directed by Internal Audit and/or Executive Management
- Meet with executive company leadership to discuss risks, processes and controls relevant to the company
- Collaborate with intern group to solve business problems and present solutions to executive leadership
- Gain exposure to UFG’s leadership team through various networking events, including participation in the Build Your Network Program
- Participate in a variety of development and social activities with interns from other business units
Here’s what it takes:
- Active undergraduate or graduate student that has a GPA of 3.0 or higher with a preferred field of study in IT, MIS, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and investigative skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
