A part-time student technician (federal work-study) to work in the soil and water lab within the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources beginning Fall 2023. Responsibilities consist primarily of laboratory and data entry components, with possibilities for occasional field work.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Basic laboratory hygiene
Work standing for 5-8 hour day
Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including, a criminal background check demonstrating your eligibility for employment with the University of Georgia; confirmation of the credentials and employment history reflected in your application materials (including reference checks) as they relate to the job-based requirements of the position applied for; and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check. - Basic laboratory techniques (filtering, pipetting, standard curves)
- Familiar with Excel spreadsheets and/or R for data entry
- Quantitatively capable of manipulating data for unit conversions
- Interested in environmental and natural resource-related issues (beneficial, not required)
Work standing for 5-8 hour day
- Capable of carrying 30 lb loads up to ½ mile
- For field experience, willing to work under adverse (hot, humid, sunny, wet, muddy, buggy) outdoor conditions
