The position will support Revenue Accounting and Plant Accounting. The position is responsible for accurate and timely month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, controls, and reporting for Revenue Accounting and Plant Accounting. This role will also concentrate heavily on process improvements and task automation for both teams.

Job Summary
The position will support Revenue Accounting and Plant Accounting. The position is responsible for accurate and timely month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, controls, and reporting for Revenue Accounting and Plant Accounting. This role will also concentrate heavily on process improvements and task automation for both teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monthly Close and Related Processes:
- Complete close processes for complex Plant Accounting and Revenue Accounting items.
- Review standard/non-complex journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff accountants.
- Prepare reconciliations for Plant Accounting and Revenue Accounting.
- Perform and/or review controls associated with Plant Accounting and Revenue Accounting processes.
- Complete Plant Accounting and Revenue Accounting reporting including management reporting and regulatory reporting.
- Provide guidance on all aspects of the Plant Accounting lifecycle.
- Serve as a resource for understanding and responding to unusual asset transactions.
- Respond to ad hoc analysis requests.
- Develop and monitor metrics for evaluating key plant functions (unitization backlog, outstanding CWIP, unapplied CIACs, etc.).
- Prepare internal reporting, regulatory reporting, and assist with SEC reporting. Review work products directly with stakeholders to ensure the needs of the business are being met.
- Assist with preparation and maintaining both SEC and Regulatory Audit deliverables.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design, build, improve, automate and test IT processes related to Plant and Revenue Accounting.
- Lead projects designed to improve processes, coordinating with project managers and accounting teams.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with those at various levels within the organization.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred
- Ability to independently research and resolve issues, presenting potential solutions to management.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail skills.
- Public accounting experience and/or Utility/Energy industry experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred
- At least 5 years related experience demonstrating knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, financial statement analysis and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred
