Job Summary
Ensure compliance with federal and state pipeline safety regulations by reviewing procedures, plans, and processes and their implementation. Identify local best practices that be shared, along with identifying deficiencies that need to be corrected. Continuously update and streamline the UGI Gas Operation Manual (GOM), Emergency Plan (EP), Design Manual (DM), Welding Manual (WM) and Public Awareness Plan as a result of regulatory changes, feedback from field personnel, or changes in internal processes. Assist the Director of Engineering & Technical Services and the Corrosion Control department with Transmission Integrity Management Planning (TIMP). Assist in various regulatory requests and inspections.
Duties and Responsibilities
(25) % Continuously improve UGI Gas Operations Manual (GOM), Emergency Plan (EP), Design Manual (DM), Welding Manual (WM) and Public Awareness Plan through internal reviews, meeting with internal stakeholders, and review of applicable federal regulations and industry best practices.
(25) % Participate in inspections when said inspections relate to Gas central functions like standards and general processes and data. Assist and coordinate PUC data request responses and provide support in coordination of PUC NC Letters when received in order to create responses and track actions.
(25) % Perform other duties as assigned or that may arise as a result of PUC recommendations, Internal self-audits, or requests from local offices in addition to support during incidents and compiling incident reports.
(15) % Perform annual review of GOM: Perform the annual review of the GOM as required by 49 CFR 192.605(a) – Procedural manual for operations, maintenance, and emergencies and GOM 60.10.10 – O&M Manual Review.
(10) % Assist the Director of Engineering & Technical Services and the Corrosion Control department with Transmission Integrity Management Planning (TIMP).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with natural gas industry
- Knowledgeable in, or demonstrated ability to learn: UGI Standards and procedures; PUC/PSC regulations (PA and MD), applicable Federal codes
- Adaptability and flexibility to constantly changing conditions
- Strong oral/written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and computer skills
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
Length of Experience:
Entry level position- 2 or more years in natural gas industry preferred but not required.
Level II Engineer-4 yrs in natural gas industry
Certifications: Engineer in Training preferred but not required
