Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The ER RN will interact effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, while upholding professional nursing standards in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
- Respond rapidly and appropriately to evolving patient care needs in an emergency setting.
- Anticipate the needs of patients and providers to ensure timely and efficient care delivery.
- Assist with medical procedures and delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
- Provide direct patient care based on established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication with patients and their families.
- Educate patients and significant others with timely, accurate health information.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential care environment.
- Collaborate with team members and support training/orientation of new staff.
- Take initiative in filling open shifts and supporting cross-functional duties.
- Use sound clinical judgment and escalate concerns appropriately.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in risk management, safety, and quality improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing – Associate Degree or Diploma required.
- License: Current New Mexico RN License or Multistate Compact RN License.
- Experience: At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in Emergency or ICU settings. New grads considered based on availability.
- Certifications:
- BLS – Required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP – Required or obtained within 90 days of hire
- TNCC – Required within 1 year of hire
- ENPC – Preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems.
- Effective use of the nursing process in patient care.
- Ability to provide age-specific care and adjust accordingly.
Work Environment:
Daily patient contact in a clinical setting with potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
