Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including assistance with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Monitor residents' health by checking vital signs, weight, and general well-being.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and report promptly to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Document medication administration and monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Provide basic wound care, including cleaning, dressing changes, and monitoring for signs of infection.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure proper wound management.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans for residents.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident care, treatments, and progress in electronic or paper medical records.
- Guide and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to ensure quality care delivery.
- Provide training and support to CNAs when needed.
- Work closely with physicians, RNs, CNAs, and other team members to ensure residents receive comprehensive care.
- Participate in care conferences and communicate resident needs effectively.
- Build rapport with residents and their families to provide emotional support and enhance their overall quality of life.
- Address concerns, answer questions, and provide education about resident care.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines and ensure residents are cared for in a clean and safe environment.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, such as falls or changes in health status, providing basic first aid or life support if required.
- Manage residents with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or dementia.
- Assist with end-of-life care, including comfort measures and family support.
- Maintain and update medication charts, treatment logs, and resident files.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with regulatory requirements for LTC facilities.
Qualifications:
- Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification in Michigan (don’t leave home without it!).
- Hospital experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train enthusiastic LVN who love to learn.
- Excellent communication skills—extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don’t worry, no capes required).
