Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient Pharmacy
Location: Salida, CO 81201
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Shift Information: Average 32 hours/week; must cover up to 1 weekend a month (Weekend shift: Friday 6:00 PM – Saturday 6:00 AM).
About the Role
Join the dedicated team at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, an officially accredited Critical Access Hospital by The Joint Commission. We are looking for a skilled Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team in beautiful Salida, CO. This role requires experience in sterile compounding and automated dispensing cabinet maintenance (preferably Pyxis).
Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Dispensing
- Accurately select and dispense the correct medication and quantity.
- Maintain compliance with regulations governing pharmacy practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy calculations and drug information.
Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADM) Maintenance
- Refill ADMs per reports and as needed.
- Analyze daily discrepancy reports, escalating unresolved issues to leadership.
- Remove expired stock and coordinate technical support for ADM issues.
Medication Carts and Kit Management
- Ensure emergency carts are stocked with in-date medications.
- Replenish patient care area kits based on end-user requirements.
- Post charges for medications used from kits.
Sterile Compounding
- Perform non-hazardous and hazardous sterile compounding with accuracy.
- Utilize DoseEdge for compounding tasks.
- Complete sterile compounding competencies and daily IV run analysis.
Documentation & Communication
- Properly document dispensing activities per pharmacy policies and regulations.
- Answer calls and greet colleagues courteously.
- File and maintain daily reports for technician and pharmacy operations.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Certification from the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.
- Experience in sterile compounding and ADM maintenance required.
