The Admissions Mental Health Technician supports the purpose and procedures of the entire intake and admissions process by maintaining daily census records, entering all intake and admission data into database, handling intake calls and verifying insurance benefits and precertifications.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure written and computer entries of intake calls, assessments, and admissions are accurate and thorough
- Monitor and evaluate intake/admission information that pertains to insurance benefit verification and pre-certifications
- Obtain and disseminate pertinent clinical information related to potential patients to appropriate staff to determine whether patients are appropriate for admission
- Scan patients and guests for metal upon arrival in assessment area, lock away belongings, and initiate patient monitoring; continuously monitor patients and document every 15 minutes while in the assessment area
- Complete insurance precertifications in a timely and accurate manner
- Act as a role model in using appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture; maintain collaboration with Admission Department to provide clinical support for initial screening; provide appropriate back up for assessments when there is need

Qualifications
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 21 years of age
- Experience of 1 year in behavioral health required
- Experience in inpatient setting preferred
- Computer proficient with previous heavy data entry experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to successfully perform in a fast-paced work environment
