The UHS Corporate Quality Management Department is hiring a Director - Women's Services to ensure that evidence-based standards exist at all UHS acute care hospitals that provide women’s services. This role will function as the subject matter expert for women’s and perinatal services and is available to women’s services units for clinical advice, guidance, and to provide resources regarding professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities include:
Function as a resource for Women’s Service units within UHS. Provides guidance on clinical issues as needed to ensure ongoing excellence in providing high quality, safe patient and family centered care
Provide ongoing assessment of the current state of Women’s Services at all UHS acute care sites. Ensure compliance with published standards of care, both professional practice standards and regulatory standards
Provide leadership, guidance and support to all Women’s Services units to meet and comply with published standards of safe, perinatal core measures, publicly reported metrics, and quality care. Ensure that each facility meets and exceeds Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) requirements from CMS
Keep abreast of current research and professional practice guidelines. Ensures emerging standards of evidence-based care are disseminated to local facilities to enable local facilities to remain compliant with industry and professional practice standards. Ensure UHS education supports the needs of the facility-based units
Keep abreast of the evolving science of Women’s Services nursing
Develop and ensures implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines for use at local facilities to ensure evidence-based standards are translated into tools and methods for rapid implementation to sustain improvement and foster reliability
Monitor quality and safety data and utilizes that data to improve performance at all UHS facilities. Leads the development of Women’s Services High Reliability Units at all UHS acute care sites. Guide the integration of standards with measuring tools to ensure optimal outcomes while providing safe, high-quality patient and family centered care
Function as a liaison between Women’s Services nursing and information services to ensure user-friendly, comprehensive nursing documentation services exist at local facilities
Qualifications
Master's degree with 8 -10 years' experience years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably in Maternal Newborn Care. Membership in professional organizations preferred.
- Current license to practice professional nursing
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of nursing clinical practice and management of complex environment
- Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and quality patient and family care activities are required
- Extensive knowledge and skills sets for clinical improvement methodology for tracking and trending improvement
- Ability to apply process improvement practices to improve quality and safety of care.
- Interpersonal skills to foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. Ability to plan, direct, and implement change. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Travel up to 50% to assess UHS facilities, attend conferences as well as UHS Nursing leadership meetings
