The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.
Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a Full Time (1.0) Director of Admissions position available. This position is responsible for the oversight and direction of the hospital's Admissions Department. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of specialists in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations for level of care, crisis intervention, admissions and referrals. This position closely interfaces with the hospital's medical staff, nursing staff, fellow department heads and administration, as well as external referring agencies and payers. The Intake Director is responsible for the department’s budget, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and data management/analysis. In addition, the Intake Director participates with the senior leadership team in the development and management of processes related to the hospital’s strategic goals. The Director of Admissions reports directly to the hospital’s CEO.

Qualifications
The following are the job requirements for the Full Time (1.0) Director of Admissions position: Requires Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, human services or a related field or RN-Licensure-(Bachelors or Master’s) prepared from an accredited college or university.
Five or more years of experience in psychiatric health care including three years of supervisory experience in mental health care required. Prior experience in crisis intervention and mobile assessment preferred. Must possess knowledge of current psychiatric, substance abuse (specifically DSM IV) diagnoses and medical terminology; psychopharmacology; theory and practice regarding crisis intervention, third party payers; familiarization with PPS, HMOs and general managed care; current Joint Commission standards, including generally accepted criteria regarding level of care in delivering psychiatric treatment; basic typing and computer literacy via Microsoft Office and Outlook.
