Responsibilities

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center opened its doors in 2014 and provides the highest quality of behavioral healthcare for patients in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Suncoast Behavioral Health Center is a 60-bed free-standing psychiatric hospital. We offer diverse inpatient and residential programs for children and adolescents.

 

In a highly specialized field of psychiatry, our goal is to promote cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to help our patients succeed.

 

The Hospital is looking for a Director of Utilization Review. The Director of Utilization Review performs admission and concurrent review of patients.  Assures optimum quality of patient care in the most cost-effective manner.  Works with the Physicians and the Social Services department to ensure quality of documentation of patient care.  The Director of Utilization Review is responsible for the hiring and selection of Utilization Review staff, the development and revision of all UR department policies and procedures, monitoring performance and coaching and counseling staff to maintain and/or improve productivity and performance of the UR department staff. This position will support both Suncoast Behavioral Health Center and Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, counseling, Social Work or other related field or Bachelors or Associates Degree in Nursing required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in chart analysis and utilization review in the psychiatric and chemical dependency filed preferred.
  • Valid FL license, e.g., RN, LCSW, LMHC or LMFT preferred.
  • Skills: Good oral and written communication skills required to communicate in a clear and concise manner with patients, physicians, staff and administration. Stable emotional makeup required to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary requiring sitting most of the day. Sitting at least six (6) hours a day while processing paperwork, answering the phones, and other described duties. Standing at least one hour a day while making copies, delivering message, etc.  Lifting up to 20lbs of copier paper from floor level to check level while filling copier with paper.
