Employee Health/Infection Control Nurse

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62-bed Hospital Program, a 16-bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30-bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.

Job Description:

• Oversee all infection control responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive health and safety services
• Maintain appropriate health records for employees under regulatory agency guidelines
• Coordinate comprehensive infection control services
• Maintain accurate records of infections of patients for required agencies
• Assist the Director of Systems & Quality Management in providing education and training needs of staff, based on requirements of TJC, OSHA, CDC, State and Federal guidelines
• Serve as a member of assigned committees
• Position reports to the CNO

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BSN required, MSN preferred
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Current HWC and CPR certifications

Education/Experience:

• Minimum of two years experience in a hospital setting
• Demonstrated ability to provide training and education
• Experience in Infection Control, Quality Assurance, and survey readiness
• Active in community networking and facilitating successful training of nursing students in a psychiatric setting
• Working knowledge of JC standards, OSHA and Commonwealth of Virginia requirements for employee training and education

Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children’s Residential Facilities. (22VAC42-11-380, pg. 43)
